On 17th October, 2016, MDI would be adding yet another feather to its hat with the official launch of the Business Accelerator. This achievement would make MDI the first B-school in India to have an YCombinator Style Accelerator. The realisation of such an initiative has been a result of the vision and relentless efforts of faculty and students. This development complements the MDI’s vision of developing thought leaders and change masters and would prove to be a milestone in MDI’s longstanding tradition of producing entrepreneurs and Job Creators. Several proud Mandevians have ventured into the world of entrepreneurship in fields ranging from food technology to financial technology, their performance stands as a testament to MDI’s true entrepreneurial spirit.
The focus of the first cohort of the accelerator shall be Digital Business. The Digital Business Accelerator would be a combination of various programmes, trainings and infrastructural and technical support. It is essentially a hands-on Startup Programme, executed under a vigil and supportive mentorship. It also includes the provision of co-working space and potential fund raising opportunities. Partners to this initiative and mentors will be working side-by-side with entrepreneurs, helping them to build and scale start-ups, and raise financing for defensible and scalable businesses. An exclusive partnership with F6S has been signed up, with F6S offering a plethora of resources to startups associated with MDI, amounting to $700,000 and above (per startup). Currently, a cohort of 30 companies is expected for the first batch. The initiative would also bring in several live projects for the students to participate in.
Alumni are going to be an essential part of this initiative. MDI’s 7000+ strong pool of highly accomplished and extremely talented alumni, several of whom are already running their own successful start-up ventures, have responded with immense interest and excitement. Alumni have already begun to support the initiative by agreeing to be the investors, mentors and partners. The alumni relations committee along with the whole MDI fraternity welcomes this development and congratulate the students and faculty for their dedication and persistent efforts. We would also like to show our gratitude towards our alumni who are wholeheartedly supporting this venture.
